Construction

The Plume Sweater consists of 2 seamed panels, a BACK panel and a FRONT panel. The only difference between the two is the curve of the neckline, with the FRONT panel having a deeper drop at the neckline. So, while it looks like to have a boatneck neckline, there is a slight drop in front to give a little more breathing room.

The two panels are then seamed up, with the addition of ribbed cuffs at the forearms. These cuffs can be adjusted for length, so you can make your Plume Sweater with 3/4 length sleeves, or long cozy sleeves for colder weather. Sweater length and sleeve length customizations are noted in the pattern.

For this pattern, you’ll need to know a few basic crochet stitches, as well as a mattress stitch seaming. This batwing sweater pattern is appropriate for Advanced Beginner to Intermediate crocheters.

Sizing

Plume is available in sizes XS-5XL.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

Recommended 1-3” / 2.5-7.5 cm of positive ease at upper hip

Model is wearing size M 3” of positive ease.

The sweater is designed to sit right at your hip bone, so you’ll use that measurement to determine sizing. With the batwing construction, there is lots of positive ease in the bust and upper arms. If you are in between sizes, you may consider moving down a size, since the sweater does automatically have more of a oversized feel.

of worsted weight yarn with 9-12 WPI

The yardages given are for full cuffs. Any adjustments in sweater length or cuff length will change your yardages accordingly.

SUGGESTED NEEDLES AND NOTIONS:
K – 6.5mm hook for edging/cuff
L – 8.0mm hook for body
Adjust as necessary to obtain gauge. tapestry needle
