Where did the last 2 weeks go?!

Whooo boy!  That was some book, A Dance With Dragons.  Now that I'm finished with book 5, and at the rate  Mr. George RR Martin is going, I'll have a second child before I get to read Book 6, Winds of Winter.  

I've stayed away from the blogging world for too long; the amount of catch up I have to do in my Google Reader is pretty daunting, sort of like going on vacation for 2 weeks and coming back to 300 emails in your work inbox.  Ok, not really.  This is a lot more fun, and inspiring.  

I made my first official sale of a handcrafted item!  It was an iPad cover, made for a friend of my neighbor's.  It wasn't anything fancy, but I got PAID!  Since this was the first time I was given real money to make something, I was practically skipping to the post office to get this thing mailed out.  So anyways, I'm pretty stoked about that.  Do people still use the word "stoked"?  No matter, I'm stoked.

Here's the diaper cake I made for a friend's baby shower.  

Because of the reading of the tome, I pretty much procrastinated until the very VERY last minute to put this together (11pm the night before the shower), so I don't have a whole collection of pictures or a tutorial to take you through each step, but check out Maiden D'Shade if you'd like some guidance.  I used 4 receiving blankets instead of 2 blankets and 2 bibs, and a sippy cup instead of a bottle.  There was some cursing involved in the process as well.  It was late, and I really started to get fed up with the adjustments I had to make, which frustrated Drew since I kept bugging him to show me Boy Scout knots to tie the thing together and that took him away from his Skyrim.

As for the baby owl hats, I've sadly accepted the fact that I SUCK at gauges, which means that I can't follow a pattern for a newborn hat and expect it to come out anywhere near what an infant might wear.  But it's just stitches right?  So I deviate from the pattern a bit, but at least now the hat is the right size...

Then after this will be another amigurumi, some "tasty crochet", and a dream blanket!  So much to do, so little time!  (Or, more like "so much laundry/dishes/vacuuming to do, so little time to do the fun stuff!")
