You probably know already that I love to eat. And I love to cook. Sometimes, I even think I’m a pretty good cook. But I will fully admit, I am TERRIBLE at following recipes and really don’t like to. Here’s why:
- When I see “dice 1 onion”, I ask “what size onion?” and then the whole recipe changes.
- I have never gotten exactly 1 lb of ground beef before in my life.
- Learning from my mother and grandmother meant “just add a little soy sauce, a little wine, and a little sesame oil. You’ll figure it out”.
- I never have all the right ingredients waiting for me in the fridge.
So, my style of cooking is more to understand the ingredients, the combination of flavors, and then to just fly by the seat of my pants! I often use whatever is available in my pantry and my fridge and modify an idea so that it works for me. But I’ve written them down as clear as I can for you, in case you’re not the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type of cook. Just consider these “recipes” to be guidelines, and have fun trying them out!
