Candy Corn Amigurumi Keychain

by | All Designs, Crochet, Fall, Free Patterns, Home, Kids & Toys

After sharing my watermelon keychains last week, several of you suggested that the same pattern would work for candy corn amigurumi keychains as well. Since I had delayed so long in publishing my post, and we’re now past watermelon season moving into Halloween and autumn, it seemed like a very timely suggestion. Thank you for all your feedback!

This project is sponsored by Lion Brand Yarn as part of an ongoing collaboration. All opinions, instructions and photos are 100% my own.

A quick online search for candy corn showed that the bands of white, yellow and orange are not actually even; the orange section is slightly larger than either the yellow at the bottom or the white at the top. This made it really easy to translate from the watermelon pattern – you just switch to the orange at the same point that you switch to the white rind of the watermelon.

The eyes and mouth are placed at the same point in each project. I’ve stocked up on more 6mm safety eyes since May, so this candy corn amigurumi has both eyes open. However, you can choose to keep the same wink for this little guy too!

I also realized that with one package of Lion Brand BonBons Yarn in Beach, you can easily make both the candy corn keychain and the watermelon keychain. I guess that means I need to come up with 2 more designs for the other 2 seasons!

The candy corn amigurumi pattern is listed below in whole. For extra photos on eye and mouth placement, as well as how to close up the ami and thread the ball chain, you can refer back to the original watermelon amigurumi post.

Cut yarn, leaving a tail. Squeeze the round together, aligning the 4 sc to the 4sc. Use the mattress stitch to close. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Thread the ball chain clasp through the top of the candy corn. You may need a large eye needle to help open up a hole. See the close-up photos in the watermelon keychain post!

At the end of round 2, you did not sc in the last stitch. Is this correct?
