More pictures from Taiwan! They are mostly from Taipei 101.
Taipei 101 from a few blocks away. I can’t quite capture how big this building is. Drew says it’s basically a bunch of take-out boxes stacked on each other. I say it’s beautiful…and ginormous.
Still over a block away.
Very happy, very hungry.
Delicacy bestowed with 1 Michelin star. I wonder what the Hong Kong branch is like, as that’s the one with the 1 star, because this place was already massively IMPRESSIVE.
Xiao long boa factory. Things to note: the leftmost guy’s right hand never stops kneading the wrappers. They also weigh every. single. bao. This was one of 3 tables making xiao long baos during lunch.
Appetizers, plus that awesome young ginger dipping sauce.
There are always 10 xiao long boa in each steamer – 4 down the middle, 3 on the sides – makes it easier to count. So smart, so delicious.
Dessert: 8-treasure rice. The colors are a bit surreal.
French bakery under Taipei 101. The French head baker looked yummier than the pastries. 🙂
Shaved ice (with condensed milk, red bean paste and tapioca) and sweet Dou Hua (Tofu pudding) plus croissants for dessert.
Appetizers and dumplings at a local neighborhood joint. This was a seriously efficient little eatery with super fast turn-over rates and really really good food!
Hot and Sour Soup. Left home, ate, and got home in under an hour. Sigh, I would do this every day if I could!
Ice cream and champagne in the lounge on the way home!
